Poker Flat is certainly a label we love a lot here at Berlin-Brighton Towers. It's a label that has been massively influential in our sets from very early on in our DJ careers and continues to produce exceptional music to this day.
Poker Flat releases certainly get a lot of airtime form us at our events as well as our radio shows and we can't recommend the label highly enough. So for all you readers who haven't checked out this wicked label, make sure you get those headphones on and start perusing.
So what's new? Label head Steve Bug collabs again with fellow German and trusted friend Langenberg to bring us a 10 track album that delivers silky tones, minimal grooves, luscious melodies and various other intriguing clicks, boings and quirky sounds. Steve Bug and Langenberg are both artists with a range of releases on different labels and both definitely contributed to today’s European House and Techno Scene. Since they paired up for a first EP on Poker Flat last year, both artists have been working constantly to put out a joint LP and ‘Paradise Sold’ was born. As a whole the album is a master class in house music production and came to life as a true collaborative work.
"It feels great to work with Max and I don't know why we didn't get to work together earlier.”, says Steve Bug. "It feels very natural to be in the studio together and our two worlds match easily. I think I speak for the both of us, when I say, by combining forces we came up with tunes, that we wouldn't have created on our own."
"I really enjoyed the process of making this album", adds Langenberg. "We weren't just sending tracks back and forth over the internet. It was the two of us working together in the studio. It was interesting to experience how the tracks came to life. In the end all the tracks have both of our hand-writing, but the final result has become bigger than just the sum of our individual input."
On a personal note we have been looking forward to this release especially when the two released 'Chord Cluster' on an EP in the latter half of last year, which laid some great foundations as to what to expect next from the two. If we had to pick a favourite, 'A Touch of Detroit' just edges it for us. Lovely floaty, progressive elements and melodies with a subtle 'touch of Detroit' sprinkled all over it. Go and get - You'll love it.
