In an era where electronic music often feels driven by constant reinvention, Legit Trip, AKA Artyom Boldizsár, has built his reputation by focusing on something far more timeless: groove. Whether crafting stripped-back minimal, digging through forgotten house records, or weaving together emotionally charged DJ sets, his approach has always been rooted in the belief that the simplest ideas are often the most powerful.
Born into both Hungarian and Russian cultures, Artyom's musical journey has taken him from childhood memories of hearing ATB's iconic 9 PM (Till I Come) to becoming one of the standout names associated with Eastern Europe's flourishing minimal scene. Over the past decade, his productions have found homes on respected labels including Steve Bug's Sublease Music, while his own imprint, Svoboda, has become another outlet for his ever-evolving sound as he continues to explore the space between minimal and classic house.
Away from the studio, life has become just as exciting. We caught up with Artyom less than two weeks after the birth of his daughter, as he balances fatherhood with a busy summer of new releases and international performances. From his earliest inspirations and an unforgettable debut at Café del Mar Ibiza, to the importance of storytelling through DJ sets and why he'll never stop digging for records, we sat down with Legit Trip to learn more about the artist behind the music.
Hi Artyom, great to speak with you. How are you and what have you been up to this week? Hi, I'm doing well, thanks! My daughter was born 12 days ago, so I've been spending most of my time taking care of her. At the same time, I'm also trying to keep working on my projects.
Looking back, what first pulled you towards electronic music and DJing? Was there a particular artist, club, or moment that resonated?
The first track that really caught my attention was ATB – 9 PM (Till I Come). I think I was around five years old when I first heard it, back in 1999.
A couple of years later, I saw Blank & Jones – The Nightfly on MTV late at night. In the music video they were traveling from show to show on tour, and I remember thinking, that's exactly what I want to do. I was probably around seven years old, and that was the moment I realised I wanted to become a DJ and make my own music.
Then, in 2004, I heard Mylo – Drop the Pressure, and around the same time someone introduced me to FL Studio 4. That's when I started producing music. Of course, I've only been doing it professionally for the last ten years, but that's where my journey really began.

What makes a track stand out to you when you're digging?
When I'm looking for new music, the first thing I pay attention to is the groove, especially if I know I'll be playing a prime-time set. But it's not just about energy, I also look for tracks that tell a story. I like my DJ sets to flow in waves, taking people through different emotions instead of keeping the same intensity all the time.
That means I spend a lot of time digging for music. One thing I really love is playing old house records from the '90s and early 2000s. Those tracks have everything: energy, groove, soul, and a real sense of fun. To me, that's what great dance music is all about.
Budapest has become one of Europe's underground electronic hotspots. How much has the city shaped who you are as an artist?
Honestly, Moscow had the biggest influence on me because I spent most of my life there. I'm a citizen of both Hungary and Russia, so I've always been moving between the two countries. But naturally, I spent much more time in Moscow, and that's where I was exposed to a huge part of the electronic music scene.
That said, Budapest is an amazing city, especially in the summer. I've never seen so many open-air parties happening every single day. The atmosphere is incredible, and there's always somewhere to go and discover great music
Minimal music often proves that less really can be more. What is it about that sound that continues to inspire you?
Honestly, I'm a pretty lazy guy (hahaha), and I like minimalism in everything. Maybe that's one of the reasons minimal music really caught my attention back in 2012. It had these strange sounds, unique atmospheres, and unexpected ideas that I'd never heard before.
What I love most, though, is a simple, danceable groove. It doesn't even matter if it's house, rock, or hip-hop, if the groove feels right, I'm into it. That's exactly what attracts me to minimal as well as old-school loop-driven house music. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most powerful on the dancefloor

Where was your first gig and how did it go?
My first gig as Legit Trip was actually at Cafe del Mar in Ibiza. I know... it's a pretty crazy way to start! (ha-haha)
At the time, I had already released a few tracks that were doing really well, and I was invited to play there. It wasn't a paid booking, they simply invited me to perform, and of course I jumped on a plane to Ibiza without thinking twice.
It was an unforgettable experience. Starting my journey as Legit Trip in such an iconic place gave me a lot of motivation and confirmed that I was on the right path.
You recently released on Steve Bug’s label Sublease Music, tell us more about that.
Yes, I started making house tracks. As I mentioned before, I love loop-driven grooves, so I tried to make my tracks minimal, not in terms of the sounds themselves, but in the groove, the arrangement, and the overall structure.
Lately, I've found myself moving more and more toward classic house. Maybe I'm just getting older!
And finally, I'd like to say a huge thank you to the whole label team and to Steve Bug for believing in my music. It really means a lot to me.
What have you got coming up release wise, what can you share with us?
This summer I have three releases coming out. One will be on my own label, Svoboda, another will be on the Hungarian label Fidull, and the third one... I'd like to keep that a secret for now!
What DJ's or producers are you enjoying right now?
I'd say Toman, Mihai Popoviciu (for at least the last 15 years haha) and Tuccillo. Also just simply digging through vinyls and finding lesser known artists or white labels.

What are some of your go-to labels?
Sublease Music, Cycile.
If someone is seeing Legit Trip for the very first time, what's the journey you hope they leave having experienced?
When people come to one of my sets, I want them to feel groove, love, passion and joy. That's what it's all about for me.
I'm behind the DJ booth to create those emotions, to make people forget about everything else for a few hours, connect through the music, and leave with a smile on their face. If someone walks away feeling happier than when they arrived, then I've done my job.
You have compiled our latest Berlin Mixtapes Series Episode 076 - Tell us more about your mix.
With this mix, I wanted to give people a journey full of positive emotions. I wanted them to dance, then drift into a deeper, more emotional moment, and then come back to the dancefloor again.
For me, a great mix should feel like a story. It should let people dance, dream, and experience the full spirit of house music. House isn't just about beats, it's about love, emotion, groove, and connection. That's exactly what I wanted to share through this mix.

Thanks for spending some time with us, is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?
I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who listens to my music, buys my releases, and supports me. It truly means a lot to me, and I'm incredibly grateful for every single person who has been part of this journey.
I'd also like to mention that I teach music production in Ableton Live. So if anyone would like to learn how to produce electronic music, feel free to get in touch with me on Instagram. I'd be happy to help!
Thank you so much for all your support—I really appreciate it!
