Berlin based artists Florian Kruse and Hendrik Burkhard have been releasing some seriously hot tracks for the last couple of years and have certainly made some serious waves on the underground scene. On a personal level, I have been honing in on and enjoying their sound for quite some time by playing their releases on the radio shows as well as at our events with much support from the Berlin faithful. Together the duo have teamed up and started their latest project 'TheGround'.
Kruse is of course well known for his extensive career in underground house music in the German capital, but connecting with Burkhard in 2015 took him to a different level. The guys got together in 2016 to create this body of work, building on their shared chemistry and artistic compatibility. The result is 'Dediction' - an album that showcases exactly what is getting people so excited about this project.
The debut album finds a balance between the pure release of the dance floor and the dreamy, woozy feel Kruse and Burkhard seem to tap into with every release.The lead single 'Homeless Hearts‘ is a slick, nuanced and spacey production and gives way to a powerful groove, providing the perfect backing for Burkhard’s dreamy vocal. The track was released on the 1st of September, together with a stonking remix from Ruede Hagelstein.
Previous releases have been tracks such as ‘Skylines’ on Noir Music, then ‘Broken Mirror’ on Jeudi, then ‘We Own The Night’ on Noir Music, then ‘Move In Slow Motion’ and ‘Hold On’ on Poker Flat, followed by their “The Ground EP” on Joris Voorn’s GREEN imprint.
Following that, within only a couple of months Florian & Hendrik received the remix treatment by big names in the scene such as Joris Voorn, Noir, Pleasurekraft, Eagles & Butterflies and Tim Engelhardt. The sound that defines the duo is a deep melodic experience tinged with dance floor grooves and laced with Christian's haunting and eloquent vocals. It certainly is a match perfectly made for your listening pleasure.
